Thoughts:
With E3 starting in about 12 hours, the next 2 weeks will probably be extremely crazy with a flood of news concerning every console.
Nintendo is supposed to be showing the next(first) official Legend of Zelda for the Wii this year at E3, but very little is known about the game; not even the title of the game.
I actually consider this Zelda game(whatever it will be called), to be the first true Wii Zelda game.

I think The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess was simply a GameCube port, with Wii controls added to it(and the whole flipping of the maps to make it work properly).
If The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess had not been a release title on the Wii, I think it very easily could have had the "New Play Control" title added to it in the future, like other GameCube games; but that would have left the Wii's release, without a solid first-party game on release.

Before moving forward to the next Zelda game, I thought it would be good to take a look back at The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess.  I think the data shows that the game has been played a lot, but the one thing I find interesting is the average hours reported "per person".

I know I clocked in more than 60 hours on my single play-through of the game, so the average hours makes me wonder if people are not really exploring the game's world, and if they are just zipping straight through the game and not going back to it?

Questions:
If you have played The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, how many hours did it take you to finish it?  Is it a game you are still playing these days?
With E3 starting in a few hours, and Nintendo's press conference on Tuesday, is the next Wii Zelda game your most anticipated game of E3?  If so, what are you hoping it will be like?

While I am interested to see how Nintendo has implemented WM+ into the game, its not my most anticipated game right now.  I am more interested to learn what Retro and Project Sora have been working on.

  1. I've borrowed my friend's copy but have only clocked in about 3 or 4 hours. Maybe if the new Zelda brings back good memories, I'll purchase it.

  2. Funny you bring this one up. I've actually been reminiscing about this one lately. I got the Gamecube version before getting a Wii. Loved it, beat it, then started over and beat it 100%, then tried to do it without collecting any heart pieces. I came pretty close, then got a Wii for Christmas with the Wii version. Beat it again at 100%, got even closer to finishing the game with 3 hearts, but now I can't go back to it.

I think if they simply swapped A and shaking the Wii mote, the game would be a million times better. You shake the controller to do a jump attack, you use A to do normal combos. So simple.
I also sorely missed the camera controls, I have no idea how that could have been avoided though.

Ah, only 3-4 hours, you're missing out!

It's interesting you said, "I think if they simply swapped A and shaking the Wii mote, the game would be a million times better."
I remembered reading an interview with the NyxQuest developers, they said something along the lines of, "We learned that if the action in game was going to be repeated often, it is better left to a button press, not a motion control."

I think that can apply directly to what you are talking about with TLoZ:TP. I wish more companies though, would start giving more customizable control schemes. Nearly 4 years into the console's life, and few games have done this!
