Rematch! No More Heroes 2 & Tatsunoko vs. Capcom

No More Heroes 2: Desperate Struggle & Tatsunoko vs. Capcom: Ultimate All-Stars

We last looked at both No More Heroes 2(NMH2) and Tatsunoko vs. Capcom(TvC), when they debuted on the Nintendo Channel after their releases.
If you do not remember when TvC and NMH2 debuted, take a look at the image below:

As the image above shows, TvC debuted 3-weeks faster than NMH2 did, though they were both released on January 26, 2010.
If you would like to read Tatsunoko vs. Capcom's debut data, or No More Heroes 2's debut data, here are the links to the original stories:

It has been about 7-weeks since I showed the data for No More Heroes 2, and 10-weeks for Tatsunoko vs. Capcom.
How have both games been performing since their debuts?  Let's take a look!

Approx. Number of Players Reporting Data:
No More Heroes 2 debuted with 4,806 players reporting data, NMH2 now has 8,153 players reporting their play-time data.
Tatsunoko vs. Capcom debuted with 7,003 players reporting data, TvC now has 21,200 players reporting their play-time data now.

Player Increase Since Debut:
No More Heroes 2 has added 3,347 more players, reporting data since it debuted on March 8, 2010.
Tatsunoko vs. Capcom has added 14,197 more players, reporting data since it debuted on February 15, 2010.

"Total" Game-Play Hours Reported/Increased:
No More Heroes 2 has 101,594 Total Hours reported, an increase of 45,313 hours since it debuted.
Tatsunoko vs. Capcom has 361,266 Total Hours reported, an increase of 278,611 hours since it debuted.

Amazon.com Sale Ranks & Advertised Prices:
No More Heroes 2's Amazon.com sale rank is #1,247 and the current selling price is $43.23.
Tatsunoko vs. Capcom's Amazon.com sale rank is #947 and the current selling price is $46.99.

GameRankings.com Review Score Averages/Changes:
No More Heroes 2's review score average is 84.33%, based on 39 reviews.
Tatsunoko vs. Capcom's review score average is 85.65%, based on 39 reviews.

Thoughts/Questions:
I still have not played either No More Heroes 2 or Tatsunoko vs. Capcom.
I think the data shows that Tatsunoko vs. Capcom's online play(I think), has helped it to steadily increase since it debuted, in the average hours "Per person" reported.
No More Heroes 2 seems to be sitting pretty close to the number of hours, "Per person" that was originally reported with its debut.
If you have played them, do you find yourself still playing the games, or did you play them for a while and have since stopped?

If you are interesting in either of these games, you can see new and used prices for them on Amazon.com below:

Contest Winner!

Last Wednesday, I started the very first Coffee with Games contest/give-away.
The contest is now closed, and it's time to announce the winner!

How I chose the winner:
1) I kept an empty Folgers French Roast 240 cup coffee container.

2) I dropped the names of those that entered the contest, into the coffee container.

I put the lid on it, then shook the coffee container around, then opened the lid and pulled out the winner, Ben Picone!

Thoughts:
A huge thanks to everybody that entered!  This was my first contest on the blog, but it's not the last one I have planned.
I did ask Ben what games he plans to use Wii Speak with, but I haven't received a reply, as of the time of this posting.

New Super Mario Bros. Wii's review score average is 88.12%, based on 54 reviews.

Thoughts:
Amazon.com is again out-of-stock of the Wii Fit Plus w/ Balance Board bundle, two weeks and counting.
I also am surprised that New Super Mario Bros. Wii is currently selling at a lower price than Wii Sports Resort.

Tomorrow, Monday April 26, is the start of a new week, for the data.  I will be reporting on different games this next week, and this data should be back in about two weeks time!

If you are interested in any of these games, you can see new and used prices for them on Amazon.com below:

Battling a Giant: Rage of the Gladiator's Tagon

Video:  Battle against Tagon, from the WiiWare title, Rage of the Gladiator.

The Video Brew:

In this video though, I battled Tagon using the game's "Vertical" controls.
Several reviewers said the motion controls in Rage of the Gladiator functioned, but were not accurate enough for them.  I am playing through Rage of the Gladiator, using the game's "Vertical" control option to see how well they function.
Rage of the Gladiator's vertical controls consist of using the Wii Remote and Nunchuck.
(Wii Remote and Nunchuk controls breakdown)

I was able to attain a "Rank: S", battling against Tagon while using the Wii Remote and Nunchuk.

(Tagon still wants mead, I think he should stick to coffee though!)

So far, the controls using the Wii Remote and Nunchuk seem to be functioning well.
I plan on trying to achieve a "Rank: S" in each fight, using Rage of the Gladiator's "Vertical" controls.
If attaining a "Rank: S" with the motion controls is possible in each fight, I would think that means the reviewers did not take the time to learn the motion controls, before passing judgement on them.

Questions:
Have you played Rage of the Gladiator?  If so, how far have you made it in the game?

If you haven't played Rage of the Gladiator, and you have any questions about it, please ask any question in the comments or send me an email!

If you are interested in purchasing Rage of the Gladiator, you can download it off the Wii's Shop Channel for 1000 Wii Points.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Reflex's Amazon.com sale rank is #227 and its current selling price is $39.99.

GameRankings.com Review Score Averages:
The Conduit's review score average is 72.23%, based on 64 reviews.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Reflex's review score average is 78.50%, based on 34 reviews.

Thoughts/Questions:
This past Tuesday, April 20, an Activision employee reconfirmed, that Activision will be releasing three new Call of Duty games in the next two years.(You can follow the discussion here: http://www.facebook.com/topic.php?uid=174058223611&topic=14085)
Do you think the Wii will get all three of the Call of Duty games being developed?  Do you think the Wii will only get the Call of Duty game that Treyarch is developing?  Or, do you think the Wii won't get any of the three Call of Duty games that are in development?
I think Wii owners will get the next Call of Duty game Treyarch is developing, and perhaps even the next Call of Duty game being developed by Infinity Ward.  I am not sure about the action/adventure Call of Duty game though.

If you are interested in The Conduit and/or Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Reflex, you can see new and used prices for both games on Amazon.com below:

Rage of the Gladiator: Horlan the Crusher

The Video Brew:
The video above shows a fight in Rage of the Gladiator, against Horlan the Crusher.
(He looks hungry!)
In the match, I used two special attacks:
1)  The "Aerial Assault", which the game describes as, "An insane combo that unleashes your rage by doing a series of jumping attacks."
2)  The "Eclipse", which the game describes as, "A devastating combo that darkens the skies with a total solar eclipse.  The sun's corona creates a focused beam of light that fries your opponent to a crisp."
Both the "Aerial Assault" and the "Eclipse" special attacks, fall in the middle column, of the "Offense" branch on the Skill Tree.
(Skill Tree in Rage of the Gladiator)

I fought in this match using the NES-style controls in the game, and completed the match with a "Rank: S".

Questions:
If you have downloaded Rage of the Gladiator and played it, have you completed the "Challenge Mode" in the game?

If you are interested in downloading Rage of the Gladiator, you can buy a Nintendo Wii Points card from Amazon.com below, or from your local game stores.

Thoughts:
The review score averages for all the games have not changed in a few weeks now.

Questions:
Do you want me to continue these rail shooter games data stories weekly?  Or perhaps bi-weekly or even once a month?

Rage of the Gladiator: A Perfect Fight

The Brew:
This isn't a review of the game, just some thoughts on the game and a video showing some game-play.
Rage of the Gladiator was released on March 15, 2010, through Nintendo's WiiWare service.
The game can be purchased for only 1000 Wii points, which equals $10.
I first, would like to say, that most of the "reviewers" that have "reviewed" Rage of the Gladiator, didn't even finish playing the game's Challenge Mode, before they writing reviews for it.
If you're reading reviews for Rage of the Gladiator, please be aware that many of them contain incorrect information about the game.
(He wants mead!  I want coffee!)

Rage of the Gladiator features three control methods when playing the game:
  • NES-style holding the Wii Remote horizontal, like the Punch-Out games
  • Wii Remote & Nunchuk
  • Wii Remote w/ Wii MotionPlus & Nunchuk
When playing with the motion controls, you can go under the "Options" and change the Wii Remote & Nunchuk sensitivity settings.

If you have enjoyed Punch-Out games, old or new, you should enjoy Rage of the Gladiator.

A Few Video Details:
The video below is me fighting Tagon, in the game's normal mode.
The story says that Tagon is fighting in the arena, to acquire more mead.  I would not fight for mead, but coffee perhaps!
I was using the NES-style controls when fighting him in the video.
In the video, I use two special attacks during the match.
Rage of the Gladiator features a skill tree, that consists of three branches:
  • Offense
  • Defense
  • Magic
(Skill Tree, are you skilled enough to fill it?)

The first special attack I use happens around the :35 mark into the video.
It is known as the Aerial Assault.  A portion of the game's description reads, "An insane combo that unleashes your rage by doing a series of jumping attacks."  The Aerial Assualt can be upgraded three times and it falls under the "Offense" branch of the skill tree.

The second special attack starts around 1:40 into the video.
It is known as the Ancient Tornado, and the description reads, "A mystical combo that conjures a raging Tornado which lays waste to your opponent."  The Ancient Tornado falls under the "Magic" branch of the skill tree.

Did You Notice?
You may not have noticed in the video, but the different special attacks actually do different amounts of damage to Tagon.
The further down the skill tree the attack is, the more damage it will do.
The Ancient Tornado is the third level down in the Magic branch, while the Aerial Assualt is on the first level of the Offense branch.

Also, at the end of the match, you can see the "Fight Stats" the game shows when you complete each match.
(I think I passed!)

You can see in the picture above, "Hits Taken: 0", so I was given "Rank: S".
Rage of the Gladiator gives out four different ranks:
  • "Rank: C" is given if the player is knocked down twice in a match
  • "Rank: B" is given if the player is knocked down once in a match
  • "Rank: A" is given if the player isn't knocked down, but does get hit by the boss
  • "Rank: S" is given if the player completes a match without getting knocked down, and if the player doesn't have any "Hits Taken", by the boss.
It is absolutely possible to complete the game with a "Rank: S" on each boss fight.  So far, I've completed the game with a "Rank: S" in each fight, using the NES-style controls.  I'm currently replaying the game, using the Wii Remote & Nunchuk controls, attempting to get a "Rank: S".
All attacks in the game can either be dodged, blocked, or counter attacked to prevent from being hit.

Questions:
If you've been playing Rage of the Gladiator, what control method are you playing with?
Have you completed the "Challenge Mode" within the game as well?

If anybody has any questions about Rage of the Gladiator, please send an email to CoffeewithGames@gmail.com and I'll try to answer any question you may have about the game.

If you haven't purchased Rage of the Gladiator, you can purchase a Wii Points card from your local store, or even Amazon.com.  Or, you can go directly to the Shop Channel and purchase 1000 Wii Points on the system directly.

Mega Man 10's Data Debut

Mega Man 10's Data Debut

Quick Info
Mega Man 10 was released through Nintendo's WiiWare service on March 1, 2010.
Mega Man 10 took approximately 50 days from its release, for the play-time data shown to appear on the Wii's Nintendo Channel.
Mega Man 10 costs 1000 Wii Points to download.
Mega Man 10 was developed by Capcom and Inti Creates.

Approx Number of Players Reporting Data
Mega Man 10 currently has 7,463 players reporting their play-time data.

"Total" Game-Play Hours Reported
Mega Man 10 has 54,018 Total Hours reported, for its debut on the Nintendo Channel.

Wii Shop Channel's WiiWare Rank
Mega Man 10 is currently sitting at the #5 spot, in the WiiWare's "Popular Titles" section.
The "Popular Titles" section shows the "Top 20" most popular WiiWare titles that are being downloaded.

GameRankings.com Review Score Average
Mega Man 10's review score average is 82.98%, based on 25 reviews.

Thoughts
I've never played a Mega Man game, at any length that I can remember.  I do remember when I was younger (a lot younger), watching a friend play one of the Mega Man games on the NES.
Mega Man 10 has debuted extremely fast for a WiiWare title, at least the ones I have been watching.

How popular is the Mega Man series?
Just to give you an idea, let us look at another WiiWare title, LostWinds: Winter of the Melodias.
LostWinds: Winter of the Melodias was released on October 19, 2009.
It has been 6 months since LostWinds: Winter of the Melodias was released.
LostWinds: Winter of Melodias has been out 183 days, Mega Man 10 only 50 days.
LostWinds: Winter of Melodias still has not debuted with any data on the Nintendo Channel!

Questions
Being that I have not completed a Mega Man game, is there a certain Mega Man game within the series that I should start with if I want to play the games?  Or, can I just start playing with Mega Man 10 and not really miss anything?
If you've played other Mega Man games, does Mega Man 10 fall toward the top of the series, or the bottom, compared to the other games?
If you had not played any other Mega Man games, and Mega Man 10 was your first for the series, what do you think about it?

If you're not sure how to download a Virtual Console or WiiWare game, such as Mega Man 10, and you're interested in learning how to do so, feel free to send me an email, at Scott(@)CoffeeWithGames.com.

If you're interested in Mega Man 10, or other Virtual Console/WiiWare games, and you haven't downloaded them yet, you can purchase a Nintendo Points Card at your local stores, or from Amazon.com below:

Monster Hunter 3 and Red Steel 2: Sales Comparisons

Monster Hunter 3 & Red Steel 2 Amazon.com Sale Rank Comparisons
(click chart to enlarge)

Last week, I posted up two charts.
The first chart showed Red Steel 2's Amazon.com sale ranks from March 9 through April 11.
The second chart showed Monster Hunter 3's sale ranks for the same time period.

The Chart Data:
The chart shows the sale ranks for:
The lightning bolt symbols on the chart show the days Red Steel 2 and Monster Hunter 3 television commercials were reported as being seen aired on television.
  • The yellow lightning bolt is the first day a Red Steel 2 commercial was reported, on March 17, 2010.
  • The green lightning bolt is the day a new Red Steel 2 commercial was reported, this one was about a minute and a half in length and aired during a WWE show.  It was reported on March 29, 2010.
  • The orange lightning bolt is the first day a Monster Hunter 3 commercial was reported.  It was reported on April 7, 2010.

The star symbols show the days Red Steel 2 and Monster Hunter 3 broke into Amazon.com's Top 100 in video games.
  • On March 23, 2010, around 6:00PM, both versions of Red Steel 2 were recorded in Amazon.com's Top 100.
  • The day Monster Hunter 3 entered Amazon.com's Top 100 was on April 6, around 3:00PM(only day marked on calendar, not time).
  • Monster Hunter 3, the game only, had not entered Amazon.com's Top 100 by April 11, but has since done so.
Again, the data in the chart was gathered from March 9 through April 11, with March 15 being the only day sale ranks weren't captured for either game.  The sale ranks for the games in the chart were all gathered within about three minutes of each other, and I would double check to make sure the ranks were the same after gathering them.
(You may need some coffee now!)

Thoughts:
To me, it looks like Monster Hunter 3 is going to outperform Red Steel 2.
I think Monster Hunter 3 will outperform Red Steel 2, 2:1 for the first month sales performance when we see the NPD data for April.
Red Steel 2 was confirmed to have sold about 50,000 units in March, according to the NPD data.
I think Monster Hunter 3 will cross 100,000 units its first month.

Questions:
If you purchased Red Steel 2 and already completed it, now that some time has passed from the release of the game, do you still recommend Red Steel 2 for others to purchase?
Did any of you make it to the Monster Hunter 3, Nintendo World Store event this past weekend?
If not, how many of you plan on buying Monster Hunter 3 tomorrow when it releases?  I should be getting my copy tomorrow morning!
Will I see any of you on the hunting grounds?  If so, will any of you be using Wii Speak with the game as well?

If you're interested in either of these games, you can see prices for them on Amazon.com below:

Thoughts:
This may be this last week, for a few weeks, for the rail shooter data.
I'm trying to incorporate more games each week, so I may start doing some on a rotational basis.

Questions:
Out of these three rail shooters, if just one of them was to receive a sequel, which franchise would you prefer to get a sequel?

If you're interested in any of these three games, you can see new and used prices on Amazon.com below:

Thoughts:
Well, Amazon.com is now out-of-stock again, of the Wii Fit Plus with Balance Board bundle.
The last time this happened, Amazon.com was out-of-stock for 12 weeks before getting the bundle back in stock, that was just last week.
I understand the Wii is popular, but I'm really confused how Amazon.com was out of stock for 12 weeks of Wii Fit Plus with Balance Board, they had it back in stock for about a week and a half, and now it is out again.
During the last week and a half, when Amazon.com had it in stock directly, Wii Fit Plus with Balance Board was ranked #1 on Amazon.com.  Today is the first day I've seen it out-of-stock, and the game has slipped to #2 now in the ranks.

Question:
I know some of you own Wii Fit Plus w/ Balance Board, is the game still being played regularly in your house?
