Nintendo Channel Data, Amazon.com Sales, MetaCritic Scores: House of the Dead: Overkill, The Conduit, Metroid Prime: Trilogy, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare [Reflex]

Last week I said it, this week it's happened.  Instead of The Conduit, Wii Sports Resort, Punch-Out, and EA Sports Active being compared, we'll take a look at games in a similar category, and see how they are performing.  Today's data is for First-Person games, games that take place in a first-person perspective.
This week the data is for:
House of the Dead: Overkill, The Conduit, Metroid Prime: Trilogy, and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare [Reflex].

Nintendo Channel Data Breakdown:
House of the Dead: Overkill has had 29,772 players report play-time data on the Nintendo Channel, since the game released in February.
The Conduit was released in June, and has had 43,252 players report play-time data on the Nintendo Channel.
Metroid Prime: Trilogy has had 19,178 players report their data, since the game released in August.
Last, but definitely not least(well, maybe), Call of Duty: Modern Warfare [Reflex] was released just in November and has 4,949 players report data on the Nintendo Channel.

Sales Rank:
Starting this week, I'll show Amazon.com's position for the games and the MSRP, which Amazon.com is usually below the MRSP just a little.
House of the Dead: Overkill's Amazon.com sale rank is #352, and it's MSRP is $19.99.
The Conduit's sale ranked is #526 and it's MSRP is $29.99.
Metroid Prime: Trilogy is ranked #415, with an MSRP of $49.99.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare [Reflex] is ranked #92, with an MSRP of $49.99.

Thoughts:
I find it interesting that a new IP, The Conduit, has more players reporting data than House of the Dead: Overkill and Metroid Prime: Trilogy.  Both House of the Dead: Overkill and Metroid Prime: Trilogy come from established franchises, and I would have thought their name recognition would have helped one of them have more players reporting game-play data on the Nintendo Channel than The Conduit, but neither one does.
Again, The Conduit has 43,252 players reporting data, compared to House of the Dead's 29,772, and Metroid Prime: Trilogy's 19,178.

Questions:
Did you purchase any of these four games?  If so, which ones and what are you opinions of them?

I didn't purchase House of the Dead: Overkill, but I did purchase The Conduit the day it released.  As for the other two, I'm on the fence still with Metroid Prime: Trilogy, hoping for a price drop on it, whereas I do plan on getting Call of Duty: Modern Warfare [Reflex] in the near future.

  1. Bought Metroid Prime 3 and The Conduit. Gave up on Metroid after realizing it had too much exploration and not enough action for my tastes. The Conduit, despite some flaws, is old-fashioned uncomplicated fun, and the only thing stopping me from playing it more is getting the time to do so.

  2. @ Robert:
Thanks for the comment. As of Metroid Prime 3, I did purchase MP3, and I still think it's Nintendo's best game on the Wii. The Conduit's single-player campaign was a lot of fun, at least I enjoyed it enough to play through it four complete times and finish all the "achievements" in it.

  3. Not a fan of House of the Dead series? I remember I spent $10 on that game in the arcade. Good times. Why haven't they made a Terminator game for the wii? It'd be very fitting with the controls/fps style.

  4. The only one of those four I don't own is Modern Warfare.

House of the Dead: Overkill was one of my favorite games this year, and it was the first entry in the series I played. Despite being a bit on the easy side, the style and over-the-top-ness really won me over.

The Conduit is a mediocre to average game depending on which way you look at it. The online is pretty fun despite some bugs and some hackers, but the story is cliched and the single-player portions are decent at best.

I've still yet to play through Metroid Prime Trilogy. It's a huge game and that's sort of intimidated me so far. But I'm definitely going to have to set a chunk of my life aside for this award-winner of a game.

  5. @Nicodemus at Nite:
I played House of the Dead 2 & 3 on the Sega Dreamcast. I don't mind onrail shooters, but I also have never purchased one myself.
As of a Terminator game on the Wii, that I doubt will happen.

    @Kyle:
The Conduit is an interesting game, and I'm glad that HVS made it for the Wii. For me, the online is what ruined the game. I actually enjoyed the single-player campaign, and enjoyed finding all the hidden messages and listening to the random radio/tv messages spread throughout the levels.

I hope that HVS learned a lot from making it, and that The Grinder benefits greatly in it's online play from their experience with The Conduit.
