Metroid Prime Trilogy turns 3! How many hours have U.S. Wii owners reported playing it?

Coffee Beans
Metroid Prime: Trilogy was released on August 24, 2009 in the U.S. with a MSRP of $49.99. The game was developed by Retro Studios and published by Nintendo, and received an ESRB rating of "Teen" with "Animated Blood, Violence" listed as content for gamers and parents to be aware of. I reported on January 8, 2010, less than 5 months after the game was released, that Nintendo confirmed they were not shipping more copies of Metroid Prime: Trilogy.

How many hours have U.S. Wii players reported playing Metroid Prime: Trilogy since the game released just over 3 years ago? Brew yourself some coffee, and let's take a look!

3 x 1 = 1! Samus' Three Adventures, Metroid Prime: Trilogy - Data Report

Coffee Beans
Metroid Prime: Trilogy (MPT) was released in North America on August 24, 2009 with a MSRP of $49.99.  Metroid Prime: Trilogy was the original Metroid Prime, Metroid Prime 2: Echoes, and Metroid Prime 3: Corruption, all put on one Wii disc.  Metroid Prime and Metroid Prime 2: Echoes, which were originally GameCube games, were updated with Wii controls; but other than the updated controls, all the games were nearly identical to their original releases.
The Metroid Prime games were developed by Retro Studios, and published by Nintendo.  Metroid Prime: Trilogy received an ESRB rating of "Teen" with "Animated Blood, Violence" listed as content for gamers/parents to be aware of.

How many hours have Wii owners played Samus' three adventures in the last 2 years?  Let's take a look!

Metroid Prime Trilogy - Not Published, But Played?

Quick Brew Info:
Metroid Prime Trilogy was released in North America on the Wii, on August 24, 2009.  It was developed by Retro Studios and published by Nintendo, and released with a MSRP of $49.99.
The play-time data shown below was collected 372 days after Metroid Prime Trilogy released in North America; or 1 year, 7 days.

Approx. Number of Players Reporting Data:
Metroid Prime Trilogy has 56,120 players reporting their play-time data, through the Wii's Nintendo Channel.

Average Play-Times:
Metroid Prime Trilogy's "per person" average hours of play reported are 29 Hours 41 Minutes, over just 13 play sessions.  The average play session, for each person reporting play-time data on Metroid Prime Trilogy, is about 2 Hours 15 Minutes.

Sale Rank & Advertised Price:
Metroid Prime Trilogy's Amazon.com sale rank was #383, with a listed "new" price of $69.98 from a third party vendor.
As I reported back in January, I believe that Metroid Prime Trilogy is still no longer being published, as I was told by two Nintendo employees.

Review Score Averages:
As the image above shows, Metroid Prime Trilogy has a 92.27% review score average, based on 33 "professional" reviews on GameRankings.com.

On Amazon.com, Metroid Prime Trilogy has what appears to be a 5 out of 5 Star rating, based on 75 customer reviews.
Actual average would be about a 9.5 out of 10
Thoughts:
I purchased Metroid Prime Trilogy back in December, when Best Buy put the game(or games?) on sale for $20.  I JUST opened the game case last week, but the disc still hasn't made it into my Wii yet.

I still find it strange that Nintendo of America hasn't commented on the publishing status of Metroid Prime Trilogy, or even Metroid Prime 3: Corruption, since January of this year.  I would think with Metroid: Other M just releasing, having Metroid Prime 3: Corruption, or even Metroid Prime Trilogy available in some fashion would encourage sales of those games.

Here is the complete trailer for Metroid Prime Trilogy:

Questions:
Did anybody run out and purchase Metroid Prime Trilogy back in January when the news broke about the game not being published anymore?  If you didn't get a copy then, have you tried to find a copy recently and had trouble finding one?

If anybody is interested in Metroid Prime Trilogy, you can see new and used prices on Amazon.com below:

Amazon.com Sale Ranks:
The Conduit's Amazon.com sale rank is #675 and its current selling price is $21.74 fulfilled by Amazon from a third party vendor, or $25.82 directly from Amazon.com.
Metroid Prime Trilogy's Amazon.com sale rank is #673 and its current advertised selling price is $49.99.
Call of Duty Modern Warfare Reflex's Amazon.com sale rank is #331 and its current selling price is $46.99.

GameRankings.com Review Score Averages:
The Conduit's review score average is 72.23% based on 64 reviews.
Metroid Prime Trilogy's review score average is 92.27% based on 33 reviews.
Call of Duty Modern Warfare Reflex's review score average is 78.76% based on 33 reviews.

Thoughts:
Next week Call of Duty Modern Warfare should pass The Conduit in "Total Hours" play-time reported.
There weren't any new reviews added to any of the games, so the review scores stayed the same as last week.
I know the Amazon.com sale ranks are updated hourly, so the numbers can fluctuate widely during a day, but I was surprised that Call of Duty Modern Warfare Reflex's Amazon.com sale rank was at #331 this week, compared to #207 last week, when I checked the data.

If you're interested in any of these games, you can see some new and used prices for them right below as they are on Amazon.com:

Number of Players Reporting Data:
The Conduit has 56,450 players reporting data on the Nintendo Channel.
Metroid Prime Trilogy has 34,933 players reporting data.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Reflex has 34,645 players reporting their play-time data.

Player Increase Over Last Week:
The Conduit had 915 more players reporting data this week.
Metroid Prime Trilogy had 973 more players reporting data this week.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Reflex had 2,179 more players reporting their data on the Wii's Nintendo Channel this week over last week.

"Total" Game-Play Hours Reported/Increased:
The Conduit had 1,242,658 Total Hours reported, an increase of 21,227 hours from last week.
Metroid Prime Trilogy had 848,160 Total Hours reported, an increase of 34,856 hours.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Reflex had 1,129,676 Total Hours reported, an increase of 116,984 hours.

Metroid Prime Trilogy's Amazon.com sale rank is #535 and its current selling price is $49.55 + $3.99 shipping.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Reflex's Amazon.com sale rank is #207 and its current selling price is $46.99.

GameRankings.com Review Score Averages:
All three games have kept the same review score average and number of reviews, as they had last week.
The Conduit's review score average is 72.23% based on 64 reviews.
Metroid Prime Trilogy's review score average is 92.27% based on 33 reviews.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Reflex's review score average is 78.76% based on 33 reviews.

Thoughts:
Keeping my "prediction" posted, I said 4 weeks ago, I think that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Reflex will pass The Conduit's "Total Hours" reported played, on Monday, March 15, 2010.
Monday's update could be surprising, and perhaps Call of Duty will pass The Conduit tomorrow, but I'm still saying it will pass The Conduit on Monday, March 15.

Also, I was glad to see Metroid Prime Trilogy Collector's Edition on Amazon.com being available from 3rd party vendors for right around $50.  Some of them have the game marked up, the "Featured Merchant" has Metroid Prime Trilogy Collector Edition's price as $93.99 + $4.99 shipping, but at the time of this posting, there were four merchants with the game between $49.55 and $49.99 + $3.99 shipping.
If you haven't picked up Metroid Prime Trilogy Collector's Edition, don't forget that Nintendo confirmed they have canceled shipping/producing the game, at least for the time being.

Question:
I'm still not sure why Nintendo isn't keeping Metroid Prime Trilogy in production, or at least Metroid Prime 3: Corruption, as a "Player's Choice" type of title for new Wii owners to pick up.  It looks as of though Metroid: Other M will be the only Wii Metroid game, that Wii owners will be able to buy brand new as of June 27, 2010.
Do you think Nintendo isn't shipping/producing Metroid Prime Trilogy anymore because of how soon Metroid: Other M is going to be released, and they don't want newer Wii owners confused if they see two Metroid titles sitting on a shelf?

If you're interested in any of the games discussed, you can see some of Amazon.com's new and used prices below.  You can even currently pre-order Metroid: Other M.

Wii FPS Games Data

The Conduit's, Metroid Prime Trilogy's, and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Reflex's Wii Nintendo Channel Data, Amazon.com Sale Ranks, and GameRankings.com Review Score Averages

Number of Players Reporting Data:
The Conduit has 55,535 players reporting data on the Nintendo Channel.
Metroid Prime Trilogy has 33,960 players reporting data.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Reflex has 32,466 players reporting their data.

Player Increase Over Last Week:
The Conduit had 907 more players reporting data this week.
Metroid Prime Trilogy had 1,048 more players reporting data this week.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Reflex had 2,434 more players reporting data this week.

"Total" Game-Play Hours Reported/Increased:
The Conduit had 1,221,431 Total Hours reported, an increase of 22,783 hours from last week.
Metroid Prime Trilogy had 813,304 Total Hours reported this week, an increase of 33,985 hours.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Reflex had 1,012,692 Total Hours reported, an increase of 117,500 hours.

Amazon.com Sales Rank:
The Conduit's Amazon.com sale rank is #699  and its current selling price is $17.75.
Metroid Prime Trilogy's Amazon.com sale rank is #675 and its current selling price is $60.00.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Reflex's Amazon.com sale rank is #239 and its current selling price is $46.99.

GameRankings.com Review Score Averages:
The Conduit and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Reflex both saw an increase in the number of reviews in their average from last week.
The Conduit was at 72.06% based on 63 reviews last week.
This week The Conduit is at 72.23%  based on 64 reviews this week.  So the new review added helped to increase its review score average.
Metroid Prime: Trilogy is at 92.27% based on 33 reviews.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Reflex was at 78.94% based on 31 reviews last week.
This week it's at 78.76% based on 33 reviews.  It saw a decrease to its overall review score average with the two new scores.

Thoughts:
Metroid Prime: Trilogy will be shown every now and then, but being that Nintendo isn't publishing/shipping it anymore, I won't track it every week in the FPS category for 2009.
As I said three weeks ago, I think that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Reflex will pass The Conduit's "Total Hours" reported played, on Monday, March 15, 2010.

If you're interested in any of these games, you can see new/used prices on Amazon.com below:

Question:
What do you think about Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Reflex having the highest "Per person" play-time average out of these three games?
I think the hours "per person" shows that the game's online is drawing people into it, just like Call of Duty: World at War's online drew me to play that game a lot.  I'm just surprised how quickly Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Reflex has passed the other two games in the hours "Per person" reported.

Nintendo Sources Revealed: Metroid Prime Trilogy's Cancellation Confirmed...again?

(rehashed from the previous article!)

A few weeks back, I broke the news that Nintendo of America wasn't shipping Metroid Prime: Trilogy anymore in North America.  I provided some quotes in the original story and thought that would be the end of it.

Earlier today I was browsing GoNintendo.com, seeing what news was happening on the Nintendo side of the gaming world.  I saw a title posted up, "Amazon drops Metroid Prime Trilogy at Nintendo's request".  I didn't realize this was still an evolving story, so I clicked the link to the original source and it brought me to Joystiq.com.
The title on the original article was, "Amazon: 'Per Nintendo, we will no longer be offering Metroid Prime Trilogy'", written by Alexander Sliwinski.

The first line of the article reads, "Nintendo continues to drag its feet on an official response about Metroid Prime Trilogy's retail status, though online retailer Amazon tells Joystiq that the game has been discontinued."
It baffled me, because I already had given a quote from the official response I received from Nintendo in the original article.  Why is Nintendo dragging its feet?

Then a little further down in the article, I read a line that stated, "Nintendo refuses to acknowledge it ever made the statement that the game was 'no longer being shipped.'".
This line didn't baffle me, as much as it shocked me.  If Nintendo wasn't acknowledging they made the statement, did that make my article false and show me as a liar?

Well, I quickly sent an email over to Joystiq to get it straightened up.
It seems that Nintendo's PR department wouldn't simply state the game wasn't being shipped anymore, because I didn't provide a direct source, other than stating it was a quote I received from Nintendo.

I really can't figure out why a billion dollar company like Nintendo has communication issues with the press.  They know whether or not Metroid Prime: Trilogy is being shipped/produced anymore, but because they didn't have the original source, they were just going to deny it, making me out to be a liar?

So, did I lie in my original story, since Nintendo "...refuses to acknowledge..." what I stated?

In each picture below, I've provided a screen capture of the emails I received from Nintendo.  My original questions are in the bottom portion of each email, after Nintendo's response.  If you want to know the questions and then the responses I received, read the bottom portion of each email first.

Just click each picture and they will open larger, or you can "right click" and choose to "open in new window" or "open in new tab".

If you noticed, I had two different sources at Nintendo confirm the same thing, Metroid Prime: Trilogy is no longer shipping(in North America).
The first source was a Ms. Barbara Soules.
The second source was a Mr. Bruce Mann.

Also, you can see where I asked if the New Play Control! titles Pikmin, Mario Power Tennis, and Donkey Kong Jungle Beat were still shipping.  Mr. Mann replied that "...the original titles are still being shipped."

The employees did nothing wrong.  They were both extremely professional and pleasant in their responses. They simply were replying to questions I had submitted.

Question:
Why do you think Nintendo of America has refused to acknowledge this with a "public" statement, when they already confirmed it via email...twice?
Nintendo or GolinHarris, if you would like to issue the statement to me, my email address is CoffeewithGames@gmail.com.

If you haven't purchased the game, now may be the best time to get try and find it locally.  Amazon.com has it available from 2nd/3rd party vendors, but the asking price is more than the MSRP, as you can see from the picture below!

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare [Reflex] is ranked #123, with a selling price of $46.99.

Player Increase:
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare [Reflex], again, saw the largest increase in players reporting data on the Nintendo Channel.
House of the Dead: Overkill had 445 more players reporting data this week, than last week.
The Conduit had 1,075 more players reporting data this week.
Metroid Prime: Trilogy had 1,503 more players reporting data this week.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare [Reflex] gained 2,600 more players reporting data in the last week.

Thoughts:
As I reported last Friday, Metroid Prime Trilogy Collector's Edition is no longer being published or shipped from Nintendo.  When the I broke the news last week, it spread pretty quickly around the internet, and I'm hoping that many gamers, and maybe some of you that visit my blog every now and then, were able to buy the game before it becomes harder to find.
Being that Metroid Prime Trilogy Collector's Edition is no longer being published or shipped from Nintendo, I'm going to replace it next week, with another "shooter" game that was released on the Wii in 2009.  I will track Metroid Prime Trilogy's stats every now and then, to see how the game is performing, but I probably won't report it on a weekly basis.

Questions:
Being that Metroid Prime Trilogy Collector's Edition isn't being published anymore, did my news last week help any of you make a decision to buy the game?  If so, were you able to locate a copy locally, or did you buy it offline?

If you're interested in purchasing any of the games in the article, you can see the game and "best price" on Amazon.com below:

Notes:
As I noted last week, I did acquire a video capturing device, and that's how the pictures of the Nintendo Channel Stats/Data were provided in the photo above.  I did need a few more items, other than just the device to get it all set up, and I received my last item in the mail today and got everything set up and working this evening.

The Nintendo Channel data was captured after the Nintendo Channel updated on Monday, January 11, 2010.  Numbers of players reporting data are rounded down to the nearest whole number.

Nintendo Stops Shipping and Producing more Wii Games: Wario Land: Shake It!, Battalion Wars 2, and Mario Strikers Charged

(click "comic" slides to enlarge)

Just last Friday, I posted up that Nintendo of America confirmed, via email, that Metroid Prime Trilogy Collector's Edition is no longer being shipped or produced in North America.

Being that Metroid Prime: Trilogy Collector's Edition is no longer being published/shipped, I asked Nintendo if they were planning on releasing any New Play Control! Metroid Prime games to replace the Collector's Edition.

The response from Nintendo to that question was, "At this time, a New Play Control version of the Metroid Prime games has not been announced for release here in North America.  More importantly, we do not have any information that tells us this game will or won't be announced..."

MORE GAMES CANCELED!
Just today, I was able to confirm from Nintendo, via email, that Nintendo is no longer producing or shipping Battalion Wars 2, Mario Strikers Charged, or Wario Land: Shake It!.

The email I received back from Nintendo after inquiring about those games said, " Mario Strikers Charged (2007), Battalion Wars 2 (2007), and Wario Land: Shake It(2008) are no longer being manufactured or shipped to retailers."  Again, I emailed Nintendo of America, so this may be different for other Nintendo regions.

If you're interested in any of these games, make sure to grab them while you can, as they are available from either Amazon.com directly or other vendors on Amazon.com at discounted prices!

Do you own any of these games?  If so, leave a comment and let some others know what you think about them, and if you think any of them are worth buying, before they become harder to find.
Why do you think Nintendo has canceled these games?

Metroid Prime: Trilogy is No Longer Being Published or Shipped!?

Have you purchased Metroid Prime Trilogy Collector's Edition, if not, you better get a move on it!

A picture says a thousand words:

A few weeks back, I mentioned on one of my blogs, "Metroid Prime: Trilogy, for some reason, isn't in stock on Amazon.com now, and it's only available from 2nd or 3rd party vendors on Amazon.com."

I sent a few emails over to Nintendo, inquiring as to why Metroid Prime: Trilogy wasn't in stock on Amazon.com for several weeks in a row.
The question in one email was, "Amazon.com hasn't had Metroid Prime: Trilogy in stock for several weeks. Is Metroid Prime: Trilogy still being published, or has production for the game stopped?"

The response I received from Nintendo was, "Unfortunately, Metroid Prime Trilogy is no longer being shipped.  Having said that, you may be able to find what you seek through the secondhand video game market."

For clarification purposes, I sent over another email and asked, "I was told Metroid Prime: Trilogy is not being shipped/published anymore.  Is that true?  If so, is there any reason why Metroid Prime: Trilogy isn't being shipped/published?"

The reply I received from Nintendo was, "Thanks for your e-mail.  The earlier response regarding Metroid Prime Trilogy was correct:  it is no longer being shipped.  When first introduced, it was announced that there would be limited availability.  However, a reason for this was not announced.  That being said, you may still be able to locate a copy via stores that specialize in previously played or used games."

I was curious, because I noticed one of the other New Play Control! games on Amazon.com was also out-of-stock, so I inquired about those games as well.
I asked, "Also, are the other New Play Control! titles still being shipped/published, or have they stopped shipping as well?  The games I'm referencing are New Play Control! Pikmin, New Play Control! Mario Power Tennis, and New Play Control! Donkey Kong Jungle Beat."

To that question, the response from Nintendo was, "As to your second question, additional New Play Control! titles have not been announced.  However, the original titles are still being shipped."

Questions:
Being that Metroid Prime Trilogy Collector's Edition isn't being published/shipped anymore, do you plan on purchasing it?  Now may be the best time to do so, before it becomes more difficult to locate!
Why do you think Nintendo canceled and stopped producing and shipping Metroid Prime Trilogy?  Do you think it was simply because it was a "collector's edition", and they'll release the Metroid Prime games individually now as New Play Control! titles?

If you're interested in any of the games in this article, you can purchase them off Amazon.com by clicking the links below!

Nintendo Wii Games: Data, Sales, Review Scores

House of the Dead: Overkill, The Conduit, Metroid Prime: Trilogy, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Reflex:  Nintendo Channel data, Amazon.com Sales Ranks, MetaCritic.com Review Score Averages
(click photo to enlarge)

Nintendo Channel Data Breakdown
House of the Dead: Overkill has had 31,591 players report play-time data on the Nintendo Channel, since the game released in February.
The Conduit was released in June, and has had 46,377 players report play-time data on the Nintendo Channel.
Metroid Prime: Trilogy has had 22,017 players report their data, since the game released in August.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare [Reflex] was released just in November and has 9,552 players report data on the Nintendo Channel.

Sales Rank
Starting this week, I'll show Amazon.com's position for the games and the current selling price, because Amazon.com is usually below the MRSP just a little.
House of the Dead: Overkill's Amazon.com sale rank is #157, and is selling for $16.77.
The Conduit's sale ranked is #612, and is selling for $27.99.
Metroid Prime: Trilogy is ranked #423, and is selling for $41.90 from Amazon.com 2nd Party/3rd Party Sellers, because Amazon.com doesn't have Metroid Prime: Trilogy in stock.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare [Reflex] is ranked #93, with a selling price of $46.99.

Caffeinated Thoughts
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare [Reflex], again, saw the largest increase in players reporting data on the Nintendo Channel.  Metroid Prime: Trilogy, for some reason, still isn't in stock on Amazon.com, and it's only available from 2nd or 3rd party vendors.  I emailed Nintendo about this a few weeks back, but still haven't received a reply.

House of the Dead: Overkill had 767 more players reporting data this week, than last week.
The Conduit had 1,316 more players reporting data this week.
Metroid Prime: Trilogy had 1,309 more players reporting data this week.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare [Reflex] gained 2,082 more players reporting data in the last week.

Question
Did anybody receive any of these games for Christmas (or other holidays you may celebrate)?

Nintendo Channel data captured after the Nintendo Channel updated on Monday, December 28, 2009.  Numbers of players reporting data are rounded down to the nearest whole number.

House of the Dead: Overkill, The Conduit, Metroid Prime: Trilogy, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Reflex: Nintendo Channel data, Amazon.com Sales ranks, MetaCritic.com review score averages

Nintendo Channel data updated on Monday, December 21, 2009

 (click photo to enlarge)

Nintendo Channel Data Breakdown:
House of the Dead: Overkill has had 30,824 players report play-time data on the Nintendo Channel, since the game released in February.
The Conduit was released in June, and has had 45,061 players report play-time data on the Nintendo Channel.
Metroid Prime: Trilogy has had 20,708 players report their data, since the game released in August.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare [Reflex] was released just in November and has 7,470 players report data on the Nintendo Channel.

Sales Rank:
Starting this week, I'll show Amazon.com's position for the games and the current selling price, because Amazon.com is usually below the MRSP just a little.
House of the Dead: Overkill's Amazon.com sale rank is #194, and is selling for $13.79.
The Conduit's sale ranked is #665 and is selling for $27.99.
Metroid Prime: Trilogy is ranked #373, and is selling for $35.99 from Amazon.com 2nd Party/3rd Party Sellers, because Amazon.com doesn't have Metroid Prime: Trilogy in stock.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare [Reflex] is ranked #139, with a selling price of $44.99.

Thoughts:
Again, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare [Reflex] was the only game out of these four, this week, to see an increase of game-play data reporting by 1,000 more players than last week.  Metroid Prime: Trilogy, for some reason, still isn't in stock on Amazon.com, and it's only available from 2nd or 3rd party vendors.

House of the Dead: Overkill had 621 more players reporting data this week, than last week.
The Conduit had 998 more players reporting data this week.
Metroid Prime: Trilogy had 810 more players reporting data this week.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare [Reflex] gained 1,286 more players reporting data in the last week.

Last week, The Conduit needed just 18,658 reported play-time hours to cross one million "Total" game-play hours, and it actually gained 24,672 game-play hours this past week, crossing one million "total" game-play hours reported.

I think it will be interesting to see how these games perform in the few weeks following Christmas, and if we'll be able to tell from the number of players reporting data, if it looks like gamers received some of these games as gifts.
Did any of these games make your Christmas list?

Nintendo Channel Data Breakdown:
House of the Dead: Overkill has had 30,203 players report play-time data on the Nintendo Channel, since the game released in February.
The Conduit was released in June, and has had 44,063 players report play-time data on the Nintendo Channel.
Metroid Prime: Trilogy has had 19,898 players report their data, since the game released in August.
Last, but definitely not least(well, maybe), Call of Duty: Modern Warfare [Reflex] was released just in November and has 6,184 players report data on the Nintendo Channel.

Sales Rank:
Starting this week, I'll show Amazon.com's position for the games and the MSRP, which Amazon.com is usually below the MRSP just a little.
House of the Dead: Overkill's Amazon.com sale rank is #242, and it's MSRP is $19.99.
The Conduit's sale ranked is #499 and it's MSRP is $29.99.
Metroid Prime: Trilogy is ranked #422, with an MSRP of $49.99.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare [Reflex] is ranked #73, with an MSRP of $49.99.

Thoughts:
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare [Reflex] was the only game out of these four, this week, to see an increase of game-play data reported by 1,000 more players than last week.  Metroid Prime: Trilogy, for some reason, isn't in stock on Amazon.com now, and it's only available from 2nd or 3rd party vendors on Amazon.com.
If The Conduit can pull in another 20,000 hours of reported game-play by next week, it will finally cross 1,000,000 "Total Hours" reported played.

Nintendo Channel Data, Amazon.com Sales, MetaCritic Scores: House of the Dead: Overkill, The Conduit, Metroid Prime: Trilogy, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare [Reflex]

Last week I said it, this week it's happened.  Instead of The Conduit, Wii Sports Resort, Punch-Out, and EA Sports Active being compared, we'll take a look at games in a similar category, and see how they are performing.  Today's data is for First-Person games, games that take place in a first-person perspective.
This week the data is for:
House of the Dead: Overkill, The Conduit, Metroid Prime: Trilogy, and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare [Reflex].

Nintendo Channel Data Breakdown:
House of the Dead: Overkill has had 29,772 players report play-time data on the Nintendo Channel, since the game released in February.
The Conduit was released in June, and has had 43,252 players report play-time data on the Nintendo Channel.
Metroid Prime: Trilogy has had 19,178 players report their data, since the game released in August.
Last, but definitely not least(well, maybe), Call of Duty: Modern Warfare [Reflex] was released just in November and has 4,949 players report data on the Nintendo Channel.

Sales Rank:
Starting this week, I'll show Amazon.com's position for the games and the MSRP, which Amazon.com is usually below the MRSP just a little.
House of the Dead: Overkill's Amazon.com sale rank is #352, and it's MSRP is $19.99.
The Conduit's sale ranked is #526 and it's MSRP is $29.99.
Metroid Prime: Trilogy is ranked #415, with an MSRP of $49.99.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare [Reflex] is ranked #92, with an MSRP of $49.99.

Thoughts:
I find it interesting that a new IP, The Conduit, has more players reporting data than House of the Dead: Overkill and Metroid Prime: Trilogy.  Both House of the Dead: Overkill and Metroid Prime: Trilogy come from established franchises, and I would have thought their name recognition would have helped one of them have more players reporting game-play data on the Nintendo Channel than The Conduit, but neither one does.
Again, The Conduit has 43,252 players reporting data, compared to House of the Dead's 29,772, and Metroid Prime: Trilogy's 19,178.

Questions:
Did you purchase any of these four games?  If so, which ones and what are you opinions of them?

I didn't purchase House of the Dead: Overkill, but I did purchase The Conduit the day it released.  As for the other two, I'm on the fence still with Metroid Prime: Trilogy, hoping for a price drop on it, whereas I do plan on getting Call of Duty: Modern Warfare [Reflex] in the near future.

The Conduit wrestles Call of Duty: Modern Warfare [Reflex] and Metroid Prime Trilogy

Earlier today, I posted up Call of Duty: Modern Warfare [Reflex]'s Nintendo Channel debut data.
After looking at the data, you may be think, "Well, how did Call of Duty: Modern Warfare [Reflex] debut compared to The Conduit and perhaps Metroid Prime: Trilogy?"
It does seem that the FPS market on the Wii is one that is neglected for the most part, after-all, it's Wii owners that got stuck with the holidays with only ONE first-person shooter, and it's a two year old port of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare.

The Pre-Match Talk:
The Conduit boasted before the match, that it was going to have the best controls for a FPS on the Wii, the most robust online multi-player, as well as some powerful graphics, flying high above the rest of the competition.  The Conduit was hyped up and many thought it would easily knock-out any FPS game before it on the Wii.
Metroid Prime Trilogy boasted before the match, that it would be bringing old school talent, but with new moves, and it would give you the most for your money in one package.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare [Reflex] was extremely humble before the match, not really speaking out much about himself, and some say his former agent(Infinity Ward) had a lot to do with keeping him quiet and humble.

So, in their debut match in the Nintendo Channel Data ring, which game came out on top?  Let's take a look:

The Match Performance Breakdown

Days:
13 days from when The Conduit released, that's how long it took The Conduit to debut with data on the Nintendo Channel.
21 days from when it released, that's how long it took for Metroid Prime Trilogy's Nintendo Channel debut.
20 days, that's how many days it took Call of Duty: Modern Warfare [Reflex] to have game-play data reported on the Nintendo Channel.
Days verdict: The Conduit delivered a stunningly fast performance and blasted both Metroid Prime Trilogy and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare [Reflex] with it's speedy attacks, showing it's 13 days of game-play couldn't be beat by just name recognition for the other two.

Players:
6,963 players reported data for The Conduit's Nintendo Channel debut.
5,415 players had reported data by the time Metroid Prime Trilogy debuted on the Nintendo Channel.
3,748 players reported the data for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare [Reflex]'s debut.
Player verdict:  Again, The Conduit showed in this match-up that talking trash and bragging loudly about yourself before a match can help you have fans showing up to support you.
The Conduit had 1,548 more fans(players) than Metroid Prime Trilogy and 3,215 more fans than Call of Duty: Modern Warfare [Reflex].

Nintendo Channel Total Hours:
74,522 total hours were reported for The Conduit's debut.

63,930 total hours were reported for Metroid Prime Trilogy's debut.

65,114 total hours were reported for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare [Reflex]'s debut.
Total Hours verdict: Again, The Conduit outperformed the Metroid Prime Trilogy and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare [Reflex] in this category.

Nintendo Channel Hours Per Person:
10 Hrs. 42 Min. reported per gamer for The Conduit's Nintendo Channel debut.
11 Hrs. 48 Min. reported per gamer for Metroid Prime Trilogy's Nintendo Channel debut.
17 Hrs. 22 Min. reported per gamer for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare [Reflex]'s Nintendo Channel debut.
Hours Per Fan(Person) verdict:  Though Call of Duty: Modern Warfare [Reflex] may have lost the debut match overall to The Conduit, Call of Duty's fans were the most dedicated in giving of their time for support.  They were outnumbered by more than 3,000 fans for The Conduit, but Call of Duty's fans must have been camping out late, and stayed late long after the match had ended, and it shows with their match(game) time per person, being nearly 6 hours longer than Metroid Prime Trilogy and nearly 7 hours longer than The Conduit.

In the end, I believe it was the hype for The Conduit that High-Voltage Software was able to create for the game, that allowed it to perform better than Metroid and Call of Duty in their first debut.
Will there ever be a rematch?  Perhaps in the future, but for now, The Conduit can boast having the best FPS debut on the Nintendo Channel for 2009.

Have you played any of these games?  If so, are you still playing them or have you moved on to something else?  Also, if you watch wrestling now, or have in the past, do you have a favorite wrestler?  Check the comments for my favorite wrestler!

The Conduit beats Metroid Prime Trilogy: Nintendo Channel Data

Metroid Prime Trilogy debuted for the first time this week with data on the Nintendo Channel.
I consider Metroid Prime Trilogy a game(or games) that would appeal to 'core' gamers, take a look at the numbers:

Metroid Prime Trilogy has 63,930 total play times hours reported by approximately 5,416 gamers.

Now time for a comparison. FLASHBACK to The Conduit's debut on the Nintendo Channel:

We can see The Conduit debuted with 10,592 more hours than Metroid Prime Trilogy did it's first week, and The Conduit also had 1,547 more gamers reporting play time data the first week it debuted, for a total of 6,963 gamers reporting data on The Conduit.
From the numbers showing, I would assume that The Conduit sold more copies in it's first week, and/or had more players playing the game and using the Nintendo Channel.

If you own The Conduit, and also bought Metroid Prime Trilogy, I would like to know how the controls compare in both games...are The Conduit's controls better than Metroid Prime Trilogy's?

(All numbers rounded to the nearest whole number where applicable.)
