Thoughts:
The sales chart included above is for the entire month of April.  Monster Hunter 3 was not released until April 20, while Red Steel 2 was released on March 23.
You may be wondering why the Monster Hunter 3 Classic Controller Pro(CCP) bundle is currently ranked so low, and priced so high on Amazon.com.  I think the main reason is because the Monster Hunter 3 CCP bundle has been sold-out on Amazon.com each day I have checked, since May 2.
The NPD numbers for the month of April are supposed to be released this Thursday, May 13.
I think it is going to be difficult to tell how Monster Hunter 3 sold, or would have sold, because of the supply issues with the Monster Hunter 3 CCP bundle.

I do not know if it was Capcom or Nintendo, perhaps both, but somebody underestimated the popularity of the Monster Hunter 3 CCP bundle.

I said it last week, and I still think the same; Red Steel 2's game-play numbers, I think are doing pretty well considering the game does not feature any online capability.

Questions:
Have you played either of these two games in the last week?
Do you think Red Steel 2 will see a price cut soon?  Or, do you think Ubisoft will leave it at the current MSRPs, and hope it turns into a "slow burn" title like many Wii games do?

I have only played Monster Hunter 3 in the last week, as I don't own Red Steel 2, yet.
I have had the opportunity twice now, to play with a reader, The Butcher, and one if his friends Den.
They are both higher ranked than I am, but they have helped me level up some, to my current HR6.
As for a price cut on Red Steel 2, I do think the game will get a price cut soon, possibly before the end of June.

If you want to look for me online in Monster Hunter 3, I should have Monster Hunter 3 on later tonight.
My Monster Hunter 3 online name/code is: Coffee  KKJ9F2

  2. You know what's funny, I haven't even looked at a single review score for this game (MH3 that is). I'm actually surprised to see what it is.

    There's just been so much positive buzz about the game that I didn't even need to read a review. I think that the demo had a lot to do with this and I hope to see more game demos in the future. Nintendo could make that a heck of a lot easier if downloadable demos were possible, but I'll try and remain realistic.

  3. I purchased both of these games and I will tell you right now that Monster Hunter 3 is getting more play time in our house than Red Steel 2. My 10 year old step son was intially more excited about Red Steel 2 until he played Monster Hunter 3. He is absolutely obsessed with Monster Hunter 3 (as well as myself of course). Now I only wish that I had my Wii hooked up to the internet... :(

  6. @Donny:
    I'm glad that you enjoy the data stories!

    @Chuckpebble:
    I agree with, " I think that the demo had a lot to do with this and I hope to see more game demos in the future."
    The Monster Hunter 3 demo is what sold me on the game, and it didn't even have any online option for the demo!

    @prizerebeling:
    I sent a suggestion to Capcom, for an idea of how to perhaps market the game on the Wii, and your statement, about your step son playing, makes me wonder if it would be effective...
    If you get your Wii hooked up to the internet, send me an email and let me know if you want to go online with Monster Hunter 3!

    @Benjammin:
    I haven't purchased Red Steel 2 yet, but like you, I do plan on getting it.

    "...I'll say that Red Steel 2 will be a slow burn."
    I really hope that's the case for the game.

    As for your MH3 question, " I have question on MH3 tho, can u only request friends that are currently online?"
    That is correct. I'll probably start leaving Monster Hunter 3 online, even when I'm not playing at night, mainly so I can receive friend requests.

    I'll write down your monster hunter name, and see if I can find you later tonight!

    I hope to do some monster hunting with some of you this week! Thanks for the comments and thoughts!

  7. Monster Hunter is just... Amazing!

    Here's my best story
    "Hey, I'll see what this Gigginox is all about, I need a Pale Juice for that CARAPACE HAMMER I've been desiring for the longest time!" At this point, I have not had any trouble with any monsters really.

    Okay, he's kinda slow, nothing my WAR HAMMER+ can't handle.

    "Oh, I forgot to bring some hot drinks and steaks, I'm sure I'll be fine-"

    "F*CK! HOLY CRAP, HE DID A BACKFLIP AND KEEPS MAKING ME DIZZY! HOLY SH*T, I WISH I HAD SOME FREAKING ANTIDOTES. OH F*CK, I'M ALL OUT OF STAMINA! I CAN'T EVEN RUN!"

    I'm In the Last 5 minutes, he's limping. Last life, All out of Potions and mega potions, quarter of life left. no whetstones, FINAL DESTINATION

    "I HAVE NO CHOICE, I MUST GO IN!"

    He poisons me

    "HULK SMASH"

    "Quest Complete, returning to camp in 1 minute!"

    I Carve, get pale juice, F*CK YEAH

    Check quest rewards box, FEARSOME MAW (A really rare item)

    I LOVE THIS GAME, SO VERY, VERY MUCH!
