Player Increase:

Reviews:
The reviews are unchanged from last week.  I really wonder if Wii Fit Plus may get a few reviews now that it's the new year.  Maybe a few reviewers made a weight loss resolution, and they'll try losing it with Wii Fit Plus?
New Super Mario Bros. Wii's review score average is 88.50%, based on 51 reviews.
Wii Sports Resort's score is 82.78%, based on 49 reviews.
Wii Fit Plus' average score is 81.32%, based just only on 19 reviews.

Thoughts:
I'm still really surprised that Wii Fit Plus is sold out on Amazon.com.  I know Amazon.com is a huge internet shopping site(the largest I believe), maybe that's the reason I've seen so many Wii games out of stock over the holidays and into the new year?
If you missed my post earlier today, my wife and I did beat the main campaign of New Super Mario Bros. Wii.  We are now going back collecting the star coins to unlock the other levels.

Questions:
Why do you think Amazon.com is sold-out of Wii Fit Plus?  Do you think Americans may be buying it after the new year, perhaps as part of a resolution to lose weight?

Nintendo Channel data captured after the Nintendo Channel updated on Monday, January 18, 2010.  Numbers of players reporting data are rounded down to the nearest whole number.

  1. Yes, I definitely think people are buying Wii Fit Plus (WFP) to help with their new years resolutions. And I think it's a great idea. It's a start and better than not doing anything at all. It will help those who don't want to wake up at 5am or who don't feel like fighting the rush after work hours (which is insanely busy, that's why I go in the morning). I just hope people keep up with WFP after February 14!

  3. @Nicodemus at Nite:
    Wii Fit Plus has had a very nice increase in data since December, we'll see if the numbers keep averaging the same over the next few weeks.

    @Owen:
    Thanks for the comment! I think people are playing Wii Sports Resort, because the game is still selling extremely well. From the NPD numbers for sales in December, Wii Sports Resort sold 1.79 million copies alone.

  4. Look at the sales for Wii consoles and Wii software in December. In the midst of a recession, with the game industry slowing down and the Wii really stalling (by comparison)slowing down tremendously. Now comes December and the Wii sells 300k consoles. It is an absolutely amazing number that I do not believe anyone saw coming. I feel most everyone was understocked on the hot Wii titles as they also sold out of NSMBW from time to time.

    Speaking of which, NSMBW is a game that is a whopping 60 days old, it is a simple platform game with no online multiplayer. But it is already racking up an average play time per user of 15 hours accross 190,297. Given the total sales are around 4-5 million that represents about a 4.5% sample size which is pretty good. I mean WOW, I think it vindicates Nintendo's decision to make it only local multiplayer with no online.
