CoffeeWithGames Turns Two, Win Two Years' Worth of Coffee!

Coffee Beans
On August 29, 2009, I posted my first blog article, "Analyzing the Wii Manufacturing Costs in 2009".  So today, August 29, 2011, marks the site's two year birthday of sorts.
What's a birthday without a gift though?  Probably just another day of the week!  So, to help celebrate CoffeeWithGames.com's two year birthday(originally CoffeeWithGames.Blogspot.com), I'm giving away 2 year's worth of coffee.
Now some of you might be thinking, "How much is 2 year's worth of coffee, Coffee?"  Well, I'm glad you asked!

I'm basing it off of 365 days in a year, and one "cup" of coffee per day.  So, the winner will receive the equivalent to around 730 "cups" of coffee.  Along with the coffee gift, a video game gift might be included as well, though that is to be determined.
The coffee gifts will be the larger containers of ground coffee, though one whole bean coffee might be included as well.  In the end though, it should be about 730 "cups" of coffee, or slightly more.

How to Enter
     1)  Write a poem about coffee and at least one video game reference, in the comment section below...keep it G, or E for Everyone, rated.
     2)  If you're a public follower of the blog, through Blogger, that's a bonus entry...but you must state what your Blogger "follower" name is.
     3)  Bonus entry by "liking" CoffeeWithGames on Facebook, and by stating what your follower name is on Facebook.

Rules
     1)  You must write a poem about coffee and at least one video game reference in the comment section.
     2)  If you want to make sure I have your contact information, send me an email to Scott(@)CoffeeWithGames.com, letting me know which poem/follower name is your's, that way I have good contact information if you don't think I have it.
     3)  No purchase necessary, and the contest is void where prohibited.
     4)  The contest/giveaway is open to residents of the 50 United States of America.
     5)  The contest/giveaway will run for one month, from August 29, 2011 and close on September 29, 2011 at 11:59PM EST.
     6)  The winner will randomly be selected by a drawing, and the winner will be announced around Friday, September 30, 2011; or as soon as I receive a confirmation reply from the winner.
     7)  The rules may be adjusted/changed as seen fit.

  1. Kirby's Epic Ode to Joe

I like my dark roast nice and warm
while I play Kirby's Epic Yarn.
The subtle flavor on my tongue
    helps me beat level one.
And while my enemies run in fear
my happy mouth grins ear to ear.
As I gather beads to advance
my taste buds do a happy dance.
The smooth brew goes down easy
while I am fighting King Dedede.
When the last drop of the pot is gone
    my game is 100% done.
So it's back to the coffee pot
    turn on the percolator.
As I start a new file
    of Rage of the Gladiator.

  2. First off - congrats! 2 years, that's a nice length of time and I've thoroughly enjoyed paying visits here.

2nd, is this poem courtesy of THE Mrs. Coffee? If so, nice to 'meet' you -- and nice poem. :)

Third - I have absolutely not ability to write poems. Still, awesome and appropriate contest and I am guessing you know I'm following on Blogger and FB as Chalgyr by now). So, it's going to be painfully short affair likely not worthy of winning, but here goes:

I wake up in the morning,
trying to blink away the webs.
I hope today won't be boring,
as I rise up to stretch my legs.

I pass through the living room,
looking for that pot of Joe.
I pour the cup and drink it,
and then I'm ready to up and go.

The badly video game referenced version that doesn't even try to rhyme (not that the above is anything to get excited about):

I (Alan) wake up in the morning,
trying to blink away the (Spider-man) webs (of Shadow).
I (Star Ocean: The Last) hope today won't be boring,
as I rise (of Nightmares) up to stretch my legs.

I pass (the Pigs) through the living room,
looking for that pot of (Danger) Joe.
I pour the (Rugby World) cup and drink it,
and then I'm ready (2 Rumble Revolution) to up and go.

  3. A massive congrats on two years Mr Coffee. You still have one of the most innovative and original ideas for a game site out there. I love the data sheets that you collect together :)

Here's to two (and more) years to come! :)

  4. Here's my poem. It's in Limerick form.

There once was a cartoon about two Italians that I always had to see,
    Always jumping, so much energy.
    They were brothers,
I don't know how they always saved the world and continued being plumbers.
Probably from all the Trader Joe's coffee.

I follow you on blogger and already like the CWG FB site. I'll tweet the contest as well.

  5. I awaken, all alone in a field,
    surrounded by mountains
Defenseless, having no sword nor a shield.

    What is this I hear?
    My ears do they deceive?
    Strange music abounds,
    Reminiscent of classic, 8-bit sounds.

I look yonder, a cave is what my eyes perceive!
As I approach the entrance I see light from a flame,
Briefly, I am reminded of a magical old game.
Upon entering I see a bearded old man,
standing between two flames with something in his hand.

    As I approach, he speaks,
"It is dangerous to go alone. Take this!"

I am jarred by those familiar words
Hesitantly, I reach for the sword.

Then he hits me on the top of my head and
says "Wake up Jeremy, time to get out of bed."

Oh boy, it's Monday morning, back to the grind.
I roll out of bed, and leave my dreams behind.
I step into the kitchen, right up to the pot,
grab a filter, measure out some grounds and whatnot.

Then I sit at the table as I wait for my brew,
Flip open my 3DS, to play for a few.

What game you ask? Why Legend of Zelda, of course.
I got it for free as an early adopter, and I have no remorse
For spending 249 plus tax on day two
Now excuse me please as I enjoy some of that brew.

Mr. Coffee - I am following you on Blogger, my username is JHardin1112 and I also liked you on Facebook.

    Thanks for the contest!

  6. @Chalgyr:
The "Mrs. Coffee" poem is courtesy of THE Mrs. Coffee, and she has read all the poems added so far since, and has enjoyed them all.
    Thanks for entering!

    @GamesAndBiz:
Thanks for the message, and I'm glad some find the content interesting! BTW, I should be sending something your way later tonight via email.

    @Charlie:
I have no idea what Limerick form is, I'm guessing that's something an English degree teaches you.
    Thanks for entering!

    @JHardin1112:
Thanks for taking the time to enter, and "following" and "liking" on FB as well!

I've been impressed by all your entries so far, and I hope you all enjoyed writing them, because Mrs. Coffee and I have both enjoyed reading them.
The contest/giveaway is open for basically another month, so more entries may show up between now and then.
Once I piece my poem together, I'll add it here in the comments as well.

  8. Congratulations on 2 years coffee, that's great!

Well...... Programming is my trade, not english, so I've tried a few things over the past month and scrapped them. Ended up making a few modifications to a coffee-adaptation of a song I had from many years ago. Not quite what I was going for, but we're running out of time here and I really like the coffee parts of it. :)

    Another cup, another spoon,
Another pot drunk up too soon.
I need my caffeine, or I’ll be real mean...
Just one more chamber before I make a scene!
    I’m makin’ coffee...

I’ll add the sugar, you add the cream,
Just make it snappy, before I scream.
I’d make it stronger, but that takes longer.
Be sure to look for sales so you can be a game monger! [like Chalgyr]
    I’m makin’ coffee...
