Walk It Out's Debut - The Game, Not Unk's Song

Coffee Beans:
Walk It Out was released on January 12, 2010.  It was developed by Hudson Soft, and published by Konami; and Walk It Out currently has a MSRP of $29.99.
The description for Walk It Out reads, "Experience a revolutionary and unique workout where walking to the beat of great music unlocks an exciting in-game world.  Keep movin' to the beat of all your favorite in-game tracks as you extend your workout in bonus minigames.  Compatible with the Wii Balance Board and the Wii DanceDanceRevolution Controller, Walk It Out will have you groovin' your way to a healthier you!"

It has taken Walk It Out 336 days for its game-play hours to appear on the Nintendo Channel, since it released on January 12.  In those 336 days, how many hours have Wii owners reported using Walk It Out to walk for a healthier life?  Let's take a look!

Debut game-play hours shown are for the United States of America Wii owners, not world-wide.
Approx. Number of Players Reporting Data:
Walk It Out has 3,377 Wii owners reporting play-time hours on its debut, on the Nintendo Channel.

Average & Total Game-Play Hours Reported:
Walk It Out has 50,582 Total Hours of game-play reported on its debut, with an average of 14 Hours 58 Minutes "Per person" reporting data.
The average play-time per session for Walk It Out is just over 1 Hour 19 Minutes.

Sale Rank & Advertised Price:
Walk It Out's Amazon.com sale rank is #397, and is currently selling for $29.99.
(Sale rank and advertised price recorded around 12:30AM on 12-14-10)

Review Score Averages:
Walk It Out's review score average is 58.33%, based on just three "professional" review scores on GameRankings.com.

Walk It Out has a 4.5 out of 5 Star rating, basically a 90%, based on 279 customer reviews on Amazon.com. (recorded around 12:30AM on 12-14-10)
Take a look at the Amazon.com customer review scores breakdown:

Thoughts:
First, if you wondering about the title, I didn't know until doing research for this post, that there is a song by the rapper Unk with the same name of the game.  His song was out first though, so I guess the ! at the end of Walk It Out's box title is the difference.
Walk It Out's customer review score average is noticeably higher in the overall percentage and number of reviews, than the "professional" review score average.  I would say Walk It Out falls into the category of Wii games where most "reviewers" just weren't the target audience for the game; which could explain the low "professional" review score average, and the low number of "professional" reviews averaged.
Trying to get more than one decent "professional" review for Walk It Out with today's video game "reviewers", would probably be like trying to sell a steak to a vegetarian...or, getting me to switch to decaf coffee on a regular basis; it just likely wouldn't happen.
If you don't know what Walk It Out is even about, here is a trailer showing some of the game-play:

Considering Walk It Out has had its game-play hours debut in under a year, and it was designed to get players active; I would say it's another game to add to the list that is helping gamers and families become active.
Just based on the 50,582 "Total Hours" reported, that would be equivalent to about 5.77 years(rounded down) of walking non-stop 24/7.
I haven't played Walk It Out, and I don't think I will; but I'm glad to see another game with a focus on helping gamers/families get fit, having data reported showing its use.

Questions:
Have any of you played Walk It Out?  If so, what did you think about it?  Is it a game you find yourself using on a regular basis?

Kirby's Epic Yarn - Hours Played in Dream Land

Coffee Beans:
Kirby's Epic Yarn took just 16 days for its game-play hours to show up on the Wii's Nintendo Channel.  We last looked at Kirby's Epic Yarn's game-play data on November 2, after its play-time hours debuted on November 1.

How many hours have gamers spent crafting in Kirby's Dream Land, in the 36 days from November 1 to December 6?  Let's take a look!

Game-play hours shown are for United States of American Wii owners, not world-wide.
Approx. Number of Players Reporting Data:
Kirby's Epic Yarn now has 22,621 Wii owners reporting their play-time data.

Player Increase Since Last Report:
Kirby's Epic Yarn has seen an increase of about 16,030 gamers reporting game-play data, since the last report.

Average Hours & Total Game-Play Hours Reported:
Kirby's Epic Yarn has seen an increase of 227,733 Total Hours of game-play, since November 1.  K.E.Y. now has 283,338 Total Hours of game-play reported.
The average play-time "Per person" for Kirby's Epic Yarn is now 12 Hours 32 Minutes, an increase of 4 Hours 6 Minutes "Per person" since the last report.
K.E.Y.'s average play-time per session is now just over 2 Hours 14 Minutes.

Sale Rank & Advertised Price:
Kirby's Epic Yarn's Amazon.com sale rank is #23, and it is selling for $39.99.
(sale rank and price recorded around 11:55PM on 12-12-2010)

Review Score Averages:
Kirby's Epic Yarn currently has a review score average of 89.45%, based on 31 "professional" reviews on GameRankings.com.  K.E.Y.'s review score average has slightly decreased since the last report, with an increase of 8 more "professional" review scores in its average.

K.E.Y. still has a 4.5 out of 5 Star rating on Amazon.com, now based on 44 customer reviews.
(review score averages recorded around 11:55PM on 12-12-2010)

Thoughts:
In the comments on the last report for Kirby's Epic Yarn, reader SuperPhillip said he completed the game in 13 hours, and 100%.
For those of you that don't know, reader SuperPhillip runs his own video game blog, SuperPhillipCentral.Blogspot.com.  He does a lot of different posts, such as favorite video game music, news, and reviews.  You can read SuperPhillip's thoughts on Kirby's Epic Yarn in his review.
SuperPhillip's play-time hours to complete Kirby's Epic Yarn are very close to what are now being reported as the average play-time "Per person", so I wonder if the gamers reporting their data are completing Kirby's Epic Yarn 100%?
I still haven't played Kirby's Epic Yarn, but I think the review scores continue to show the game was well made; and I hope to play it one day.

Questions:
Have any of you played Kirby's Epic Yarn since my last report?  If so, have you completed the game and how long did it take you to complete it?

If anybody is interested in buying Kirby's Epic Yarn, Amazon.com currently has the game on sale for $39.99, which is linked below:

Netflix Channel - Are Wii Owners Watching It?

Coffee Beans:
I showed on October 25, just a week after the Netflix Channel released, how many hours Wii owners had reported using the channel during its first week.
On Monday, November 22, Netflix announced new price changes on their existing unlimited plans, and started offering a new "No DVDs" streaming only plan for $7.99.
How many hours have Wii owners spent watching movies and television shows through the Netflix Channel, instead of playing video games since the last report?  Let's take a look!

Approx. Number of Wii Owners Reporting Data:
The Netflix Channel now has 222,656 Wii owners that have downloaded the channel, and are sharing their Netflix Channel usage through the Wii's Nintendo Channel.

User Increase Since Last Report:
The Netflix Channel has seen an increase of about 203,028 Wii owners reporting data, since the October 25 report.

Average & Total Video Hours Reported:
The Netflix Channel's "Total Hours" have increased by 4,082,396 hours, since the last report, and it now has 4,132,554 Total Hours reported.
The total average time "Per person" is 18 Hours, 33 Minutes, while the average time per session on the Netflix Channel is just over 3 Hours 5 Minutes.

Sales Info:
Just based off the Netflix Channel's reported users, and assuming each Wii owner is just on the new $7.99 streaming only price plan; Netflix is making at least $1,779,021 per month, from Wii owners.
We already know Nintendo of America's President Reggie Fils-Aime said there were more than 3 million Wii owners using the Netflix service when it was disc based, so based on that alone, they were making more than $27,000,000 a month from Wii owners($324,000,000 a year!).

Thoughts:
The reported Netflix Channel data is really impressive for a new channel on the Wii.  I think the reported user data shows the Netflix Channel is being used often by Wii owners; and the total number of hours reported and number of Wii owners reporting data is a lot higher than I expected, just 50 days after the Netflix Channel's release.

We are still using our Netflix service, ever since we started our "Free 30-day trial"...I guess that's what trials are meant to do.
We have the Netflix Channel on our Wii, as well as our PS3.  Being that I record a lot of footage from the Wii each week, the PS3 has become default Netflix player in the house.

Questions:
Have any of you, like myself, started a Netflix membership after giving their "30-day Free Trial" a try?

If anybody doesn't have a console, and you are interested in getting one for Netflix use, you can see the consoles on Amazon.com linked below:
