Old Beans
I haven't purchased a wrestling video game since the 1990s.  I owned a N64 and purchased both WCW vs. nWo: World Tour and WCW/nWo Revenge, and I still own WCW/nWo Revenge and even played it again last year.
I was a pretty big WCW wrestling fan back in the 90s, and I even went to a few wrestling events and met/saw several wrestlers like Chris Jericho, Macho Man, Buff Bagwell, and Bret Hart.  A group of friends and I even got to help take down a wrestling ring after a wrestling event in our town, which was pretty cool.
If I ever find/get the old pictures, I may have to scan them in and do another wrestling post!

Filtered Thoughts
While I have not played any version of WWE All-Stars, when I was capturing/uploading the trailers for the game I thought they did a good job showing off the game-play.  If you have not seen anything about WWE All-Stars for the Wii, PS3, Xbox 360, or PS2, the video embedded below contains two trailers showing off the game:

As for the reported game-play data, I think it should be encouraging to the developer and publisher of WWE All-Stars on the Wii that game-play data has already debuted.  The Wii version does not have any online functionality(that I saw), and I think seeing a game like this debut already is pretty good, especially considering it was a multi-platform release.
The Amazon.com sales rank is a lot lower than I was expecting for this game though, as I was expecting it to at least still be in Amazon.com's "Top 1,000" video games listed, and I didn't find any articles with THQ commenting on if the game has met sales expectations.

Questions
Have any of you played WWE All-Stars, and if so, what do you think about the game?  Is it a wrestling game you would recommend to other console owners that perhaps haven't purchased a wrestling game since the 90s, like myself?
Also, have any of you, like me, met any wrestlers at/after a wrestling event?  If so, which ones?

If any of you are interested in WWE All-Stars, you can see prices for it on Amazon.com linked below:

  1. Never met any wrestlers, used to love those games when I was younger. Amusingly just won a smackdown vs raw game for $2 the other day, planning to review that soon (though it's the slightly older 2010 version).

I have a friend at work who picked this game up, though for the ps3. He likes it, and says it's not as involved as most other wrestling games - just sort of a non-sim pick up and play game. He's going to loan it to me soon.

Good to see you posting - sure the little bean's eating up a good portion of your time though. :)

Was it a bet of some sort, or one of those little crane game things?

Yea, I thought even with family being in town that I would be able to keep posting, but we did a lot of going out and about, and stuff around the house...so, no posting...though I did get another side project semi-started.
Little bean is keeping to a "normal" baby schedule of: eat, sleep, make some noise...
Mrs. Coffee has gotten some Kirby time in while holding the guy.

  3. Online auction - guy had a ton of games up for sale and apparently Smackdown didn't get much attention. most of his games got like 10-15 bucks, but that one only one other guy bid. :P

What's the side-project, or is this a surprise for down the road? I have a few posting 'projects' coming up over the next month or two, like console comparisons, a full PS3 Move review, things like that if time allows.

Funny you mention Kirby time while holding the guy. Hands-down the most Madden time I ever clocked was when my son was a baby. He didn't sleep through the night the first 10 months of his life, and the only 2 ways to calm him down were to walk around with him bouncing him a little, or sitting in a rocker-recliner and rocking him to sleep.

I got *really* good at sitting in that chair, cradling him in my arms with a controller in my hands and just rocking him for hours while playing Madden. Only time in my life I got to a double-digit in seasons played in franchise mode. :)

Well, let's just say it goes along the lines of the famous saying, "You don't talk politics or religion with family or friends".

Speaking of Madden...you know if EA would stop being greedy and just let their "exclusive" NFL license expire, I would perhaps actually buy a Madden game, but I after destroying their biggest competition and the great leaps that NFL 2K5 had made, I haven't purchased a football game since.

    Thanks for the comment/answer back!

  5. I'm still a sucker for the Madden and NBA 2k games. I don't buy -every- year, but most. But I am far too hooked on those sports in general (have been since jr high). :)
