Filtered Thoughts:
It has taken Metroid: Other M 31 weeks to cross one million reported game-play hours, and while that's not super for what I would consider a main Nintendo franchise; I think it's decent enough for the game, considering the wide-range of opinions on it.
It's been interesting watching Metroid: Other M's Amazon.com sale price over the last 4 months.  In the last report, Amazon.com had the sale price of Metroid: Other M at under $30.  For several weeks during November and December, and for just a bit into the new year, Amazon.com had the price below $30; then the price went back to $49.99 and stayed there for a while.  Just a few days ago, Amazon.com dropped the price on Metroid: Other M back below $30.
I don't think Nintendo has given an update on how Metroid: Other M's sales were throughout the holidays(if so, I didn't find it), but seeing the game discounted below $30 is something that is rarely done with main Nintendo franchises.  Mario Wii games, The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, and even Super Smash Bros. Brawl are still very close to their MSRPs of $49.99; so, I'm not sure if Nintendo is allowing Amazon.com to drop the price simply to clear Metroid: Other M from inventory, or if they are still printing the game and trying to reach a certain sales goal with it, just at a lower price.
If any of you didn't see the television commercial Nintendo ran advertising Metroid: Other M, you can watch it right here:
