I think it would be great to see a new game in the franchise. I always loved the graphics, especially the water. Look at Pushmo and Dillons Rolling Western...an HD version of the original Waverace with a steady network component ought to be an economical project and a beautfiul thing."
I would imagine they have been working on some "HD" updates from older systems, like they had OoT 3D and Star Fox 3D. My only problem, is that with those games (Star Fox specifically), they didn't do anything for online play. No online multiplayer, and not even leaderboards. It just seems like Nintendo is really trying to play "catch up" with the other consoles and even mobile devices (see iPhone) for making the online aspect more serious/easily used by developers.

I really, really, really hope they address the Wii U's online before the system releases, and that they have some evidence to show with it as to why they are serious and we shouldn't worry with them getting stuck with an outdated system/store/online like what happened with the Wii.

Thanks for the comment and feedback! At least Nintendo renewed their trademark rights this month.
I have actually never played Blue Storm but I know it was developed by a second party and the reception at the time was that it was missing some of the magic of the original. The original was indeed pretty magical for me...I probably put well over 50 hours just playing single player but I played a ton in multi as well...simple and sublime controls. i could play it one handed almost as well as with two.
Nintendo seems to be reorganizing some of its development efforts into smaller teams for downloadable games on eshop. We didn't even play it much, and stuck mainly with bowling and frisbee. As a matter of fact, I think I only played the Power Cruising game in it once... I don't really......I'm not that fond of this or the GameCube game, though I imagine if I bought this to play for the first time in 2007 or after, I wouild give it more of a chance than 2 hours.

Oddly, I love the Power Cruising section of Wii Sports Resort, which involves a jet ski. The shorter, time-trial style gameplay of it appealed more to me than the racing of Wave Race. If they want to mix that type of challenge mode into Wave Race, and an exploratory type mode (think Island Flyover from Wii Sports Resort) in addition to the racing, then I'd be excited for another Wave Race. I feel like Monster Games (Excite Truck/Bots/Bike, PilotWings Resort) would make a fine new Wave Race.WesFXnoreply@blogger.com
